About Us

Our Story

Gambel Oaks Equestrian Center, owned and operated by Jim and Linda Hitt, has been serving Elizabeth, Colorado for over 20 years.  Gamble Oaks' main goal is to find out what discipline(s) best suits an equestrian and their horse.

What sets this amazing center apart is their combined training experience and success, both locally and nationally, in the show ring. Disciplines cover Western Pleasure, Hunter Pleasure, English and Country English Pleasure, Reining, Trail, Reined Cow Horse and Working Cow Horse.

Teaching amateur/non-pro riders to become good horsemen and horsewomen is paramount.  Honing horsemanship skills and gaining knowledge of a rider's horse and it's mechanics are more important than creating a "puppet rider" that looks good in the show pen - as long as nothing goes wrong.

Having a husband and wife training team is a huge benefit for both horse and rider. Gambel Oaks strives to maintain strong family morals and values through every facet of training, creating a positive environment not only for the horses but for the youth and adult riders as well.

"Our diversity is our strength.  Every horse and rider is different. Some horses and people are going to get along better with one trainer, while others are going to get along better with another. Additionally we utilize each of our strengths to help one another through rough spots that may be encountered with either a horse or a rider".

Gambel Oaks prides itself on hard work and an honest effort to make the most of the horses and riders they have the privilege to work with.
